1919 – पेरिस में रेडक्रॉस सोसाइटी की स्थापना की गयी थी.
1920 – अधिकारियों ने कथित चोरी और हत्या के लिए निकोला साको और बार्टोलोमो वानज़ेटी को गिरफ्तार किया था.
1922 – ब्रोंक्स में यांकी स्टेडियम का निर्माण शुरू हुआ था.
1925 – दक्षिण अफ्रीका सरकार ने अफ्रीकी को आधिकारिक भाषा घोषित किया था.
1927 – वर्जीनिया वूल्फ द्वारा लाइटहाउस को पहली बार प्रकाशित किया गया था.
1940 – द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध: नॉर्वेजियन शरणार्थियों ने लंदन में एक सरकारी निर्वासन का निर्माण किया था.

1972 – एलीटालिया फ्लाइट 112 पालेर्मो, सिसिली के पास माउंट लोंगा में दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हो गयी जिसमे 115 लोगों की मौत हो गई थे.
1987 – ईरान-कॉन्ट्रा संबंध: संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका में कांग्रेस की टेलीविजन सुनवाई शुरु हुई थी.
1994 – अमेरिकी किशोरी माइकल पी फे को चोरी और बर्बरता के लिए सिंगापुर में डिब्बाबंद किया गया था.
2014 – हांगकांग के तट पर मार्शल द्वीप पंजीकृत कंटेनर जहाज के साथ चीनी कार्गो जहाज टकराव के बाद 11 लोग गायब हो गए थे.
2014 – ग्रीस के तट पर एजियन सागर में शरणार्थियों की टक्कर हुई बीस लोग मारे गए थे.

1818 – प्रसिद्ध जर्मन दार्शनिक, अर्थशास्त्री और वैज्ञानिक कार्ल मार्क्स का जन्म हुआ था.
1903 – भारतीय अधिवक्ता, गाँधीवादी नेता, राजनीतिज्ञ और स्वतंत्रता सेनानियों में से एक अविनाशलिंगम चेट्टियार का जन्म हुआ था.
1916 – भारत के पूर्व राष्ट्रपति ज्ञानी ज़ैल सिंह का जन्म हुआ था.
1929 – भारत के प्रसिद्ध क्रांतिकारियों में से एक अब्दुल हमीद कैसर का जन्म हुआ था.
1935 – राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार विजेता तथा हिन्दी-गुजराती साहित्यकार आबिद सुरती का जन्म हुआ था.
1937 – परमवीर चक्र सम्मानित भारतीय सैनिक मेजर होशियार सिंह का जन्म हुआ था.

1821 – फ़्राँसीसी सैन्य अधिकारी और राजनीतिक नेता नेपोलियन बोनापार्ट का निधन हुआ था.
1953 – राजनीतिज्ञ एवं स्वतंत्र भारत के पहले वित्त मंत्री आर. के. शनमुखम चेट्टी का निधन हुआ था.
1961 – गणितज्ञ, हिंदी विश्वकोश के संपादक तथा हिंदी में वैज्ञानिक साहित्य के बहुप्रतिभ लेखक गोरख प्रसाद का निधन हुआ था.
2006 – प्रसिद्ध फ़िल्मी संगीतकार नौशाद अली का निधन हुआ था.
2017 – भारत में उच्च न्यायालय की प्रथम महिला न्यायाधीश लीला सेठ का निधन हुआ था.
